Harborview Medical Center was founded in 1877 as a six-bed hospital in South Seattle. It has since become a leading academic medical center, managed by UW Medicine. New facilities have been added with support from voter-approved bond projects and Harborview reserve funds, including the Norm Maleng Building and the Ninth & Jefferson Building.
