I was hired as a remote worker, and now my company calls us to the office. Should I as for relocation assistance? Will I sound needy?

Definitely ask for relocation assistance, you won't sound needy at all.

I've seen (and been at) companies that give relocation assistance to directors making over $1M/year, it's just part of the game.

My employer closed a bunch of offices and created a hub and asked people to relocate. They said they would pay for relocation. If yours doesn’t then see if you can get an exception to wfh. These things are flexible many times. I would suggest have a meeting with your lead/ manager and put forth your case. And no you won’t sound needy, relocations are expensive.
