Massive 25% layoff at Nextdoor 🪓

Surprised to see the huge layoff at Nextdoor. 25% is very very deep. Would've thought we're over the layoff phase by now. Anyone have insights here?

25% seems like much and it is, percentage wise. But its 'only' about 200 people so in terms of numbers it's less shocking.

6% increase YoY in active users, 4% increase YoY in revenue, but an 8% higher net loss overall. Seems like a 25% layoff is a bit overkill, but what do I know

How does that app even make money to support such a large team? As an end-user, I don’t pay to use it.
