Hardware PM vs Hardware Engineer

Im not a PM at FAANG, but I suspect PM's have higher room for growth because of their transferability to eventually even PM and work on software / combination of software + hardware teams

I am a PM at a FAANG and a better way to view this is a technical PM vs a Engineering position. If you are a business PM you’ll typically be capped since there are only so many business leadership positions. As a technical PM you’ll have an opportunity to be either a business leader, an engineering leader and potentially even both at a later stage in your career.

Being an engineer is great but it can be hard to move into management. The distinction here is wether you want to be an IC or to have more organizational responsibilities.
