Flying for on-site in SF with multiple co.’s

Question

How do I handle travel, scheduling and transparency when I'm on a trip with 2 on-site's lined up? First company is offering to reimburse travel but book hotels. Second company is offering to handle travel on my behalf. Another on-site might pop up to. How do I handle this tactfully?

I'd frame it as you doing a super week for interviews in SF. It's definitely super common for candidates to do this, no-ones trying to fly back to SF 2 or 3 times. After clarifying this with the first company, you can accept the travel + accommodations with your preferred dates. After booking and confirming the first company, you can just be completely transparent to the rest of the 2 that you'll be doing an interview super week and that you'll already be in the Bay Area. See what they say and if they're able to schedule you around your timeline with the first company.

they flew me in from london for a single day and returned me the day after.. best of all, the hiring manager recommended me intel museum and nasa around the corner saying, oh, normally we offer an extended stay for people from far away. it was the worst travel arrangement and flight that I‘ve done in my entire life. so definitely try to get a few days off, this shit is nuts otherwise. just think how you‘ll feel if you get the rejection right before entering the return flight and you have nothing to do for the next 15 hours. I saw Golden Gate bridge for 30 minutes at night!! what a bummer
