I scheduled a 1:1 with my boss because I wanted to get his guidance on how to do my job better. I hit all my KPIs but for some reason he kept giving me poor performance reviews, so I just wanted to clear the air. Fired the next day. Cool 👍

I think those that voted yes, like me, are just coincidental, My advice for anyone who has the opportunity to have a 1:1 with your manager... 1) use it to find out the type of Manager/Leader you have, Leadership Style, EQ Level, Influence/Impact 2) Document everything, meetings scheduled, attended, agenda items, agenda notes, action items, give your mgr at least a few days prior to updating your 1:1 agenda, then get acknowledgement on your notes/summary following every meeting (IN writing) 2) use it to pilot ideas with your manager and get free feedback about their thoughts 2) use it to develop YOU 3) use it to gain feedback on YOU, Learn how to manage your manager and you will excel! Don't overlook the value of understanding character and their moral compass... It could tell you if they will throw you out just to save their name.

So are we saying it went like this:1) Manager receives 1:1 invite2) Manager decides that this is cause for a personal lay off?I can't imagine how that would cause it. Also, layoffs mean large number of jobs eliminated from a company, for financial reasons or reorganization. It is not supposed to refer to a job lost due to performance or any actual cause from the individual.

That’s called being fired. Layoffs are different.
