- Frequent 1:1s with your direct reports. Not waiting till the end of the year to give them negative feedback. They should get any criticism in these 1:1 sessions so they have the chance to improve. 
- Actually listening and empathizing with your reports so you can remove blockers for them and your team.
- You need to understand the best tech and architecture practices, but you should always delegate to the engineers. They are the experts. Your input should be limited to capacity and resource constraints.

Hi Prabal, good luck on your interview! This is what a typical day looks like for me atm- It's a mix of people, project, and technical resource management. For the role, it requires a ton of communication, technical expertise, and a desire to see your team succeed. If you fail, your org may be cut in the current environment. It's what leads to managers going from good to terrible as they are trying to maximize outcomes and not maximize the talent available. There is a big difference.

I start the day with a stand up to get an idea of what the team is working on and to identify any blockers. I tend to keep notes on my end to keep track of whats going on but generally I ask everyone to come with their top 3 prios and any blockers. Best practice: keep updates short, take longer discussions offline and allow team members to give asynchronous updates on Slack if they can’t make the meeting.

On the people side of things, you need to balance "professional" time with "personal" time. Professional time would be interacting regularly on projects directly related to work. Personal time would be discovering you have similar hobbies and being able to bond over non work stuff. Usually if people get to standup early, they can shoot the shit a bit and not feel like an adult entered the room to get the meeting started. I think having that kind of relationship where your team feels comfortable being normal is great. For some, it's not. Gotta be careful how much you want to share obvi, but it's a way to build friendship which will help when you guys need to support each other on projects.
