Promotion Salary Negotiations

Question

My director has informed me that at the start of 2023, I will be promoted to VP, Data Scientist Lead. This will be my first promotion within the company.

Upon learning my new salary, is it acceptable to negotiate for a higher amount? If so, what advice do you have?

always acceptable, they can only say no, but find out the culture and common practices, e.g. do you go to bottom of gradeI always treat it the same as moving to a new company, whether internal or external you're negotiating for your worth in the role in the open market - but most companies want you to think an internal promotion isn't the same, it is!
