Strongly recommend against it. Housing will eat anything you make. Unless you are dual income high TC folks (400k+), renting is basically your only choice and 5k/month will get you a 40 year old townhome with no insulation or AC and a 60 minute commute.

Stay out of the Bay unless you’re independently wealthy.
