Getting internships as a 1st year student?

I am currently a first-year CS student.I was wondering:1) Is it even possible to land a SWE internship as a first-year CS student?; and2) Are there any companies or programs that specifically look for first-year students?

Yes! totally possible but you will need to think outside the box to get noticed if you don't have some extraordinary skills or achievement already.

Same here. Struggling to find a way to get an internship in year one. CS career fair prospects are like nil based on what companies are looking for (junior, senior, grad).

Freelance if you have the skills. Even working on Wordpress pages can be profitable if you hustle. When I started, I would go to hackathons in high school and every now and again, I'd get a chance to work on some small project with a more experienced attendee. I just dropped those on my resume freshman year and got a internship with a local dev shop doing frontend stuff.

Yes, it is, kinda. I did it, but I said was graduating early so in 3 years, instead of 4. I applied to ~100 internships, got responses from 2, and had 1 interview (with the company I interned at). I got a lot of rejection and ghosting but if you apply to enough companies you should be able to. What I found is that you need to apply to a non-cs/IT company that is large enough to have an internship program, so you don't get a lot of competition.
