Time tracking for remote work

I think I know the answer but would you move ahead with the next interview step if you found out somehow that the company asks employees to use a time tracking tool during work hours?

Is there an actual company asking you, as a SWE Manager to log your hours? That's absurd lol, I would also get the heck out

I would immediately drop out of the interview process. If you can't trust the people you hire, then that's not good. Some people may rebut with: "Well, you must be hiding something, then!" No, my friend. No. SWE work is a type of knowledge work. It's very nuanced. This isn't repetitive work like manufacturing. Imagine giving a detailed time sheet to a non-technical person. Yeah...no thanks.

The  founder (non technical) in the startup I worked bought ActivTrak and ordered the IT head to install it on all machines. The CTO and IT head had no say in it. The IT head quit after completing this

I dont understand why people qre freaking out most time tracking is just for show. You always bill 8 or whatever the standard work day is even if you only worked 2. If they want  attack you then you can explain how there's not a linear flow to SWE and that sometimes you need a minute to compose yourself or think.
