<p>If SWE pay collapsed to be average and closer to non-tech pay, let's say it fell about 30-50%. Would you still do it?</p><p><br></p><p>Just curious how many SWEs out there are in it only for the money. Which is totally fine, by the way, it's just a job. But I feel like, with how saturated the market is and how AI is changing the way we code, we'll see pretty soon here who's actually passionate and/or talented with this stuff and who was just here for the money.</p>

<p>Been seeing more and more doomer posts on Reddit and Twitter about the AI bubble popping, all while the news cycles cover how companies are laying off people cause of AI, or how Sam Altman and that guy from Apple are going to make an all-new AI device.</p><p><br></p><p>Do ya'll think this is a bubble that'll pop sometime soon or is this actually just the new normal?</p>

<p>Hi all — just wondering if anyone else is facing the same thing.</p><p>Been applying to roles lately (tech, backend-focused), and it’s been radio silence. No responses, no interviews, not even rejections. It almost feels like applications are vanishing into a black hole.<br></p><p>I know the market is weird this year, but I can’t help but question my capabilities sometimes. Is it just me, or is the tech job market completely silent lately?

<p>There's someone on my team who just constantly avoids work and doesn't do whatever he's assigned. As much as he can, he tries to delegate his work to other people, to the point where he's clearly bugging us and putting too much on other people's plates.</p><p><br></p><p>The thing is, he's a really nice guy outside of work related stuff. I know that when it comes to work, you'd want someone who's nice AND gets their stuff done, but at the end of the day, having someone who gets stuff done is probably more important.</p><p><br></p><p>Without me pressing, he's admitted that he doesn't really want to do this type of work but stays just cause the pay is good. But at this point, his lack of work is negatively impacting my own work and plain getting annoying.</p><p><br></p><p>Any suggestions on what I can do here?</p>

I currently earn roughly €2,700/month, pay no taxes, and am looking to relocate to the UK, Germany, Portugal, Spain or Luxembourg—all of which I'm currently researching.</div><div><br></div><div>I recently got a new remote job that allows me to work from anywhere in the world and offers a truly flexible work schedule. This new job pays me €4,200/month. I know that this is considered quite “a lot” for someone in my situation, but still, my country is no longer worth living in. Every day, the situation here worsens.</div><div><br></div><div>I plan to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa or an IT Work Visa in one of abovementioned countries.</div><div><br></div><div>Currently, I work as a Backend Engineer at an AI company in Germany (earning €2,700/month). My question is: Considering a decent quality of life, starting a family, and long-term stability, which of these countries would you recommend for someone in my situation?</div><div><br></div><div>I also intend to apply for more roles and possibly resign from my German company if I get an offer that matches or surpasses my second job.</div><div><br></div><div>I’d really appreciate any advice, opinions, or even criticism.
