It’s low because that’s just the cost of labor in the area. Demand is higher in the US.

Salaries in the UK appear to be pretty low. Not to mention higher taxation, both in income and capital gains. US is the king when it comes to purchasing power, though living in London has it's perks, money isn't one of them.
