Do FAANG companies pay top compensation outside of Silicon Valley?

I am wondering if companies (FAANG and unicorns) pay top salaries to experienced (5-8 years) remote engineers outside of their respective tech hubs/headquarter areas?

Yeah, I think in major metros, you'll see top salaries simply because the market demand is high in those places. Look at the bay, seattle and nyc. They gradually go down but it also depends on the industry. The devs working at hedge funds and quant shops in nyc are right on par with devs at facebook and apple.

I live in one of the lowest cost of living areas of the country and they pay me above average for my level in the bay area.

I pay major-metro rates regardless of where someone lives in the U.S.  I believe in hiring the most talented people I can find and am willing to invest the $$$ to do it.

generally no. They pay based on cost of labor so the major metros generally pay more than smaller metros simply because there's more competition for talent between firms and that drives up the quality of talent as candidates seek higher wages.
